Americans Against Mass Incarceration

I suggest reading The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Color Blindness by Michele Alexander, if you haven't. It's short, full of info, & terrific.

NY doesn't have kill-at-will law, but we have stop-and-frisk with which "innocent young men of color are stopped for the crime of walking home or going to the store"

Sesame Street's first muppet with parent in jail: "Every puppet has a family and this new addition to Sesame Street has one too. Curious to hear your reactions but the big nugget from the article: "one in 28 children in the US now has a parent behind bars -- more than the number of kids with a parent who is deployed."

"Alex will not be part of the regular cast on “Sesame Street,” but he’s playing a central role in the online tool kit."

Shows me that SS is still on top of it, still relevant, still doing their research and addressing the issues kids need addressed!
